Getting Started
It's a free 15-minute call — no preparation needed. We'll talk through where your child is right now, what they're finding difficult, and which Locus programme would suit them best. There's no commitment on either side; it's just a conversation to see if we're the right fit.
Yes, completely free. There's no catch and no obligation. If after the call you decide Locus isn't right for your child, that's absolutely fine — the call costs nothing.
If we decide to go ahead, we'll agree on the right programme (1-1, group, or bootcamp), confirm the start date, and you'll receive a confirmation email with all the details. From there, sessions are booked and paid for a month at a time.
Usually within a week of the discovery call, subject to availability. Get in touch early if you have a specific deadline — places fill up quickly around exam season.
How Sessions Work
Sessions take place via video call (Zoom or Google Meet). Your child will need a device with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and something to write on — either paper or a tablet. The tutor shares their screen for worked examples, and students can show their working via camera or a shared whiteboard tool.
Years 7 to 11 only. Locus Tuition focuses exclusively on this range — it's where the GCSE syllabus is built and where targeted early support makes the biggest difference to exam results.
AQA and Edexcel for GCSE. Cambridge iGCSE is also offered as an additional option — if your child is following the Cambridge International syllabus, get in touch and we can discuss whether it's a good fit.
Yes. Once we know your child's target grade and current level, we'll confirm which tier to focus on and structure sessions accordingly.
Pricing & Commitment
1-1 sessions are priced by year group — see our Courses page for the current rates. Group sessions start from £15 per session. Bootcamp pricing depends on the format and is also listed on the Courses page.
Sessions are booked and paid for roughly a month in advance — approximately four sessions at a time. This gives your child a consistent rhythm and means we can plan a proper sequence of lessons rather than ad-hoc, unconnected sessions.
There's no fixed contract. If you decide not to continue, simply don't book and pay for the following month — that's all it takes. We ask for reasonable notice (ideally before the next month's sessions are planned) so we can manage our schedule. Individual session cancellations should be given 24 hours' notice where possible.
No. The free discovery call is the equivalent — it covers everything a taster lesson would, without requiring your child to be present. We find a conversation is a better way to assess fit than a single rushed session.
Curriculum & Results
No. Amit builds and maintains his own curriculum and resources. Every worksheet, worked example, and practice question is tailored to the individual student — not downloaded from the internet or taken from a revision guide. This is one of the core differences between Locus Tuition and most tutoring services.
Most students notice improved understanding within the first few sessions — that shift in confidence is usually the first sign. Visible grade improvements typically take a full term of consistent sessions. We review progress every half term so you always know where things stand.
No. Catching up is the most common reason students come to us. We start with a diagnostic to identify the specific gaps, then work through them systematically. Students who join even a term before their GCSEs can make meaningful progress with the right approach.
15 minutes, completely free. We'll answer anything and help you work out whether Locus Tuition is the right fit for your child.
